October Travel Guide

Oh October!  Fall is in the air.  This month is filled with so many things to do and explore.  There are Halloween everywhere, fall-themed events, and plenty to do for all.  It is a great time to visit Orlando and Kissimmee, the weather is still very warm but not as humid.  Crowds are more present compared to September but still much less than our typical summer crowds.  

What is the weather like?

Warm, and sunny but not as humid.  As we’re moving away from the heart of Hurricane season and there is less humidity in the air, less expected rainfall, and a bit cooler temperatures.  Temperatures are still high in the 80F (30C) range.  

Halloween Horror Nights

The spookiest event of the season.  You cannot miss this award-winning event at Universal Orlando Resort.  Enjoy haunted houses, scare zones, and amazing themed food.  Check out a complete list of the houses below

The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare with the artist surrounded by demonic figures and a silhouette of himself in a doorway.
  • The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare: Its Music to your Fears.  The Weeknd stalks you through this haunted house, his nightmare is now yours.  
  • Halloween: His Beginning is Your End. There is nobody like Michael Myers
  • The Horrors of Blumhouse:  Twice the Screams.  Twice the Terror.  Get ready for a bloodcurdling double feature. 
  • Universal Monsters: Legends Collide:  It’s the Wolf Man vs. Dracula vs The Mummy.  If you thought one Universal Monster was scary, how about three?  
  • Spirits of the Coven:  They’re Bewithchingly Terrifying.  A coven of witches will lure you into their 1920s speakeasy and reveal their true form.  
  • Bugs Eaten Alive:  These Bugs are Out to Exterminate YOU!  You’ll be surrounded by the slime of bugs everywhere as they descend upon you.
  • Fiesta de Chupacabras: Listen to Your Abuela and Beware the Chupacabras.  Visit a Latin American village where the legend is celebrated. 
  • Hellblock Horror:  As These Monsters Escape Their Prison, There’s No Escape For You:  Enter a prison whose savage inmates are monstrous creatures. 
  • Dead Man’s Pier: Winter’s Wake.  You’re Dead in The Water:  undead fishermen emerge to seek their revenge, will you survive?  
  • Descendants of Destruction:  Deeper, Darker, Deadlier.  Descend the subway tunnels of a deserted New York and escape the hungry mutants lurking in the shadows.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Party 

This is a great option for the little ones!  It’s Halloween with a Disney Twist.  Enjoy a wild fireworks show hosted by Jack Skellington, marvel at the Sanderson sisters, and collect candy as you trick or treat throughout the park.  Best of all this event isn’t scary at all so it’s perfect for all ages.

SeaWorld’s Spooktacular

SeaWorld’s Spooktacular is back with fun surprises, candy, costumes, and more! Kids love trick-or-treating (with the purchase of a reusable bag) during this daytime event as they explore our decorated trail and meet colorful characters. This year be sure to check out all our immersive family Spooktacular Festivities and plan your visit this fall. SeaWorld Spooktacular runs select days, Sept. 17 – Oct. 31, and is included with park admission.

Legoland Brick or treat

Join the Monster Party!  During select weekends this fall, monsters take over LEGOLAND and host the Halloween party of the year.  Enjoy live entertainment and shows, limited-time attractions, character meet & greets, costume parade and trick-or-treating.  Event is included with regular park admission. 

Airplay: Interactive inflatable installation Dr. Phillips Center

Explore immersive, inflatable art like you’ve never seen before at Airplay.  Presented by Orlando Health.  Engage in interactive, inflatable art installations, including a Luminarium from Architects of Air at Airplay.

Epcot Food and Wine

Sip, savor and stroll your way around the world!  Enjoy drinks, treats and so much more while you stroll through the park.  This festival is a must-visit and be prepared to eat your heart out.  We can’t wait to try Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Riesling-Poached Pears in The Alps by Germany, the Beer-Braised Beef served with Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes in Belgium, the Adobo Yuca Fries with Garlic-Cilantro Aïoli, and the Paella with Rice, Chorizo and Shrimp in Spain.

Fairy Doors at Leu Gardens

Fairy Doors are back! Check out this charming exhibit which runs from now thru November 7, 2022.

It features twenty, one-of-a-kind, whimsical fairy doors which will inspire your child’s imaginative world of enchanted forests, secret gardens, and the magic of fairies. Each door is created by a very special fairy and all you have to do is find these beautiful doors located throughout the 50-acre gardens. A map of the fairy doors and a narrative of each fairy will be available. This is a fun exhibit for all ages. Gather some friends and/or family to see if you can find all the fairy doors, but remember the doors only open for the fairies.

Daytime garden admission applies $15 adult, $10 child (ages 4 – 17 years) which includes the Fairy Doors. Leu Gardens’ Members and all children 3 years of age and under receive free admission.

Celebration Oktoberfest

Mount Dora Craft Fair.

Held on the streets of historic downtown Mount Dora, FL, this event brings hundreds of visitors annually and is ranked as one of the best Craft Festivals in America.  The downtown streets come alive with more than 400 of the best exhibitors in the country ready to show and sell their fine and fun crafts at the 36th annual event.  Festival food, music, beer, and wine tasting for adults and a free kid zone for the kids will round out the event.
